Florence Penet

Portrait of Florence Penet

Painter · PARIS, France

The Red Sea, a deep, soul-sucking blue. The brown rocks of Africa, scorched by the sun. The silence of the Arabian deserts. I keep these moments like a secret, then let them be reborn on the canvas, to the rhythm of the music, until the light emerges.

"Everything in Florence Penet's work blends together in the very fabric of emotion."

François L. Speranza, art critic

In the artist's words

Florence Penet is a French painter dedicated to abstraction. Born into a family where painting always held a special place—her mother was a painter herself—she studied art history at university.

Since 2011, she has exhibited in galleries and art fairs in Paris, throughout France, and in Belgium. Her works are part of private collections in France and abroad. A recipient of abstract painting awards, she is a member of the European Academy of Arts.

Artistic Approach
Florence Penet defines her work as demanding abstract painting driven by contrasts, intuitive in its execution. Her canvases, whether fluid or structured, reflect an emotion experienced or imagined.

She works with oil paints, applying successive glazes, and uses resins, notably marble dust, to create reliefs and textures. Each canvas requires several weeks to mature.

Critic François L. Speranza sees in her work a lyricism where "emotion is expressed through chromatic motifs, to such an extent that one could almost speak of musical colors."

She cites Zao Wou-Ki among her sources of inspiration.
